Sticking to the plan

While I am still on target with my change to living a healthy and well lifestyle, it’s time for some adjustment. Can you tell…

yep you guessed correctly! Those are my gym shoesπŸ˜³πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚ ordering a new pair tonight! But still keeping my gym flow until they come inπŸ‘πŸΎ

Just DO IT!

As I was decluttering my home office, I decided to put my journals together in date order on a shelf. I happened to read one journal and exactly 4 years ago this past Monday I wrote the following: by 2014 I would like to accomplish starting my own business, canoeing, and becoming proficient in Pilates and acquiring a healthy lifestyle. Well, I did not fully reach all of my goals. The reason why? I failed to keep the goal for the prize in front of my eyes. I wrote about it I thought about it, then I closed my journal and I walked away without a plan in place.

Well, I started that business and I did start Pilates and I did start eating healthy but in all three I did not fully follow through and put my best foot forward. This happens often with many goals we want to achieve because we do not have a plan in place or a way to measure where we are in obtaining our goals and whether or not we are still on track or need to make some adjustments to stay on target.

I want to become better at all of these but this time around I have a road map. First I have learned to be specific in stating what I want. Instead of I want to start a business, learn Pilates, adopt a healthy lifestyle and canoe, I had to really hone in on what I wanted to achieve. Then I had to add a date -by when?  Next was the actual plan -how will I do this. Then the follow through with accountability. Finally, visual reminders or scoreboards so that I may see at a glance where I started, where I am currently and where I want to go.

Under the new plan: healthy lifestyle. I will cook three vegetables on Sunday to eat lunch and dinner throughout the week. Prepare breakfast and lunch the nite before. In the month of August, sign up for the gym with a friend 😜 and commit to cardio 3x a week and strength training 2x a week. This change has worked wonders for me. At the gym, I used the free personal training sessions to get acquainted with the new equipment and start my routine. Now they know me by name and text me when I’m not in for a few days. I did have to tweak my gym times though. It seems 4am is my time. I also utilized the online health assessment for my gym -Anytime Fitness. I use the Lose It app and Instagram as my scoreboards. Yes, I turned to technology, social media and the millennial loving -selfie 😱 to help keep me focused, on track and accountable. My night time prep would look like this

and my Sunday vegetables will look like this
I’m on target to a whole new lifestyle -immediately. Care to join me?

Move over Procrastination!

My goal is to finish these three quilt by 12/1/2015. The tops are about 90% finished. Then they will be embroidered and finally quilted. Just in time for Christmas. I normally peruse the thrift stores for wadding or batting. I’ve had great result using worned but warm blankets. Just launder and dry, layer and quilt.

There is always a fav and this is it! Hope I am able to part with it.

This one says summer and fun to me. Kinda outgoing looking and…

this is my least fav. Not enough contrast for me.

Well time to get some shut eye as gym comes quickly at 4am! Don’t forget to say your prayers

Good Night

My lil’ Earthly Paradise

the summers here in Virginia can be very humid, with passing summer storms and lots of no-see-ums. But I really enjoy being outside but just can’t fight the no-see-ums battle for the back yard territory. After a few weeks of searching the place that has everything (besides the bible) -PINTREST!!!! πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽˆWe found the equal and opposite version of the man-cave. It’s called the SHE-SHED! We had to improvise a bit. We have a small backyard and a nice sized deck. We screened the deck. Hung a few curtains, laid a rug, bought 2 rocking chairs and made a bench used lots of deck paint and ta-da!. This is where I spend most of my down time. We won’t finish fully until next Spring. My space is mainly used for Jesus talks and reading.  But I so love it❀️

Fall ALREADY!!??!!

Well I did not anticipate my next blog post to be so far out although I needed to take a sabbatical to reconnect. So glad I did. So the looming question is… Did I really get a lot of reading done? The answer is yes! But I did not exhaust my list. Once the word got out that I was on a reading quest, people gave me, loaned me more books than I can remember. Many of them I had no desire to read and others were amazing!! I suffered through many book until I finally wised up and became honest with myself and the owner of the books I did not or was not enjoying. You can waste a lot of time reading something you just plainly do not enjoy. So I would stop reading and return the book immediately simply stating I did not like the book or was not enjoying the book they have obviously loved so well.

Sometimes I would read several books (3) at a time. I am kinda like a bee when reading -from one to the next never staying with one too long. However, there would be one that would hold my attention from beginning to end; like Lisa Scottoline’s Don’t Go and Save Me. Read each one in 2 days while sitting on my porch in the rain and a few times at night and always drinking my favorite coffee from my favorite mug.
